I'm having a problem

I keep getting logged out

udoku's user authentication system primarily uses cookies. If cookies are not enabled, a fallback system is in place, but this is less reliable.

If you are continually being logged out immediately after logging in then you probably have cookies disabled. For optimal browsing of udoku make sure cookies are enabled in your browser. To enable cookies go to your browser settings or preferences and you should find cookie settings under 'Security' or a similar heading or tab.

If you are behind a proxy server or some sort of firewall and cannot use cookies then the fallback system will attempt to maintain your session on the site but this is no guarantee of uninterrupted browsing.

The udoku is completely blank! Where do I start?

That's entirely up to you. If you want to make some guesses at a blank udoku and get it right, you'll pave the path for other users to start filling in the blanks. Alternatively, you can wait for other users to fill it up some more so that you can start making educated guesses. Just don't take too long, otherwise there might not be a cell left for you...

I'm not getting the popup asking for my answer

There are a few possibilities as to why this is happening. To determine what is wrong, place your mouse cursor over the cell you wanted to submit an answer for.

If the cell changes colour, then the most likely reason why this is happening is because you have Javascript disabled. udoku requires Javascript to run properly and you will not be able to submit answers without it. Javascript settings are likely to be under the 'Web Features' heading or tab of your browser's settings.

If on the other hand the cell does not change colour, first check that you are logged in. If you are not logged in, most of udoku's functions will be unavailable to you. You can log in here or get a udoku account here completely free.

If you are logged in, then there is a good chance that someone has taken the cell before you. The grid will not display any indicator that the cell is being held but don't let this worry you - when the user posts their image, it will be displayed there. Alternatively, if they take too long and their upload period expires, the cell will become clickable again. You can wait for this cell to possibly open up, or just choose another one.

When I click an image I get sent to a new, broken-looking page

The most likely reason why this is happening is because you have Javascript disabled. udoku uses a modification of the ThickBox script to display images on your page and Javascript needs to be enabled for it to work. Javascript settings are likely to be under the 'Web Features' heading or tab of your browser's settings.

It tells me I've reached the error limit...

This will be because you have made too many errors in a short period of time. When you have reached the error limit, you will not be able to submit answers for any udokus for a period of time. Continuing to submit answers during this block period will not extend your waiting time, but surely you have better things to do than sit around and refresh a page for what could be hours? If you get blocked, maybe you should just let someone else have a go!

Why can't I submit another answer?

You may not upload more than one image per udoku. The point of a udoku is to display many different images based around a central theme - this is more achievable when lots of different people post to a udoku. Don't you worry - you'll get another chance when the next udoku goes up!

I just got an error... what does it mean?

Every error code on udoku that you may encounter is accompanied by a description of the problem that has caused the error to display. Most error messages are in response to invalid input on your part - read the explanation to see what's wrong.

Please bear in mind that the udoku website has been thoroughly bug-tested and that any errors you may encounter are confirmed by the developer. It is unlikely that the website itself will encounter a problem: just read the description if you are unsure whether the error is your own fault or is the fault of the site.
